Hello, World!
Who I am, why this blog exists, and what you'll find here
Hi! I'm Anatolii Melnyk, a software developer from Ukraine. You can put a face to the name on Instagram.
Who I am
๐บ๐ฆ Born in western Ukraine, moved to Kyiv in 2015 for university (Computer Science). Still here โ through everything.
๐จโ๐ป I've been writing code professionally since 2019 โ mostly frontend with React, TypeScript, and the modern JS ecosystem. I've worked in small product teams and large outsourcing companies, and I enjoy the kind of work where I can own a feature end to end.
I try to follow the scout rule โ always leave the code cleaner than you found it. That's probably the closest thing I have to a professional philosophy.
How I got here
I grew up in the generation of forums, custom phone firmwares, and the constant urge to make things better than they came out of the box. Flashing ROMs, tweaking configs, breaking things and putting them back together โ that was my playground long before I wrote my first line of code.
I've always been drawn to the technical aesthetics of devices โ how they look, how they feel, how they work under the hood. That curiosity never went away. It just turned into a career.
Why this blog
I started this site because I wanted a place to share things I've figured out โ not tutorials written for SEO, but honest notes from someone who's still learning. If something took me a weekend to debug, there's a good chance someone else is stuck on the same thing.
This blog is my way of thinking out loud. Some posts will be technical deep-dives, others โ just stories about building stuff at home.
I love trying out new apps, tools, and workflows โ and I love sharing what actually works. If I can save someone a few hours of research with a single post, that's a win.
What I'm into
๐ Outside of work, I'm deep into Home Assistant and smart home tinkering. Zigbee sensors, BLE thermometers, YAML at 2 AM โ the usual. My apartment has more automations than some offices.
๐ฎ I love mechanical keyboards, swapping apps and icons on my Mac, and living in spreadsheets and lists. I play games less than I used to โ these days I'm more into watching game design breakdowns and reading about development processes.
โบ Hiking and mountains are my reset button. I've been listening to podcasts since 2012 (yes, before it was cool), and I enjoy camping with tents and board games with friends.
